What this site stores on your device, and why — in plain language.
Who Runs This Site
Freegliders is run by Marc Schäfer, a solo developer, as a hobby/passion project. For anything on this page, reach out via the Contact page.
Cookies & Local Storage
This site sets the following, and nothing else:
- fg_tester_session (cookie) — Keeps you logged in after creating or using a tester account.
- fg_wip_preview_enabled (browser storage) — Remembers whether you've turned on the "preview work-in-progress features" toggle.
- fg_cookie_notice_ack (browser storage) — Remembers that you've seen this notice, so it doesn't reappear on every visit.
All three are strictly necessary for a feature you explicitly used (logging in, or clicking a toggle) — there's nothing optional to opt into, which is why you won't see a banner full of toggles for things that don't exist on this site.
Tester Accounts
If you create a tester account, we store your username and a securely hashed password (never the password itself) in our database, so you can log back in later. You can ask us to delete your account at any time via the Contact page.
Fonts
This site hosts its own fonts. It does not load anything from Google Fonts or any other third-party font service, so visiting this site doesn't send any information about you to a font provider.
Server Logs
Like virtually every website, our hosting provider's web server may keep standard access logs (e.g. IP address, browser type, requested page, timestamp) for a limited time, for security and operational purposes such as detecting abuse. We don't use this data for anything else, and we don't have a separate analytics tool reading it.
No Analytics, No Advertising, No Tracking
This site doesn't use Google Analytics or any other analytics tool, doesn't show ads, and doesn't include any third-party tracking scripts, pixels, or embedded widgets.
Your Rights (EU/EEA & UK)
If you're in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the right under the GDPR (or UK GDPR) to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict its processing. Contact us via the Contact page to exercise any of these. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Your Rights (US Visitors)
Several US states — including California's CCPA/CPRA — give residents rights over personal information held by businesses that meet certain size or revenue thresholds. This is a small hobby project that doesn't come close to those thresholds, and more importantly, we don't sell or share personal information with anyone, so there's nothing to opt out of. We still extend the same access, correction, and deletion rights described above to every visitor, no matter where you live.
If your browser sends an opt-out signal such as Global Privacy Control, you don't need to bother — we don't sell or share data in the first place, so there's no tracking for it to switch off.
This site is intended for a general audience, not specifically for children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we ever learn that we have, we'll delete it.
International Visitors
The UK's cookie rules (PECR) were updated in February 2026 to let sites set basic analytics cookies without asking first, as long as visitors can still easily opt out. We don't use analytics cookies at all, so this changes nothing for us — UK visitors already get the stricter, opt-in-only treatment described above.
Canada's PIPEDA, Brazil's LGPD, and Australia's Privacy Act take a similarly consent-based approach to the EU. Because we already apply the GDPR's stricter, opt-in standard to everyone, visitors from these countries are covered too.
Where two laws say different things about the same issue, we follow whichever one is stricter — so every visitor gets at least that level of protection, no matter where they're connecting from.

If what this site stores ever changes in a meaningful way, we'll update this page — and you may see the cookie notice again so you're aware.
